A Lovely Day

Woke up at 7. Which is a lovely bit of sleeping in for our house. The kids snacked and we watched a little TV. They played in the playroom. Got cleaned up, dressed. Breakfast at McDonald's. The kids shared pancakes, sausage, eggs, a biscuit. Juice boxes make any meal sweeter. Headed up to Conner Prairie. The outdoor area is closed until the winter season starts up. They have a fantastic indoor area where my kids have always loved to play. Trains, a play store, a play kitchen, garden, a cow to "milk." There is a science lab and we had fun doing hands on learning about sports related interests. Then a trip to Target for a major grocery shopping. The kids always love stopping by the Target bakery for a free cookie and then tooling around the toy section with Daddy while Mommy shops for boring stuff like food. Home for a rest. Zach napped, Daddy played a computer game in the basement, Teagan had quiet playtime in the playroom, Mommy watched Desperate Housewives. Felt the itch to go run so I threw on some clothes and headed out into the 60 degree, gray, misty, rainy day. Got in 2.4 miles and came home to the smell of freshly baked blueberry muffins that Jeff made with the kids. Jeff ran to the library to pick up a copy of Star Wars. The kids and I made pizza. Parmesan and asiago flatbread, sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella for them. Jeff got home, pizza came out of the oven, we started up the movie. I made my pizza. Pesto, spinach, mushrooms and a cheese blend. Made a salad of spinach, mushrooms, broccoli slaw and Goddess dressing. Glass of Chateau Thomas Classic Cabernet Sauvignon. We ate and watched the movie. Became clear Zach wasn't going to sit and watch or even be content with being quiet. So he and I bailed on the movie and headed to the playroom. We played and got a little silly. You can see the videos of some of our fun on the Facebook page. Made popcorn. Watched the end of the movie all together. PJ's, bedtime book, goodnight. A very good day. A few moments here and there of frustration or whininess or complaining. But it was a fun day, a day we spent together, a day we all enjoyed. Photobucket

Sounds like a fabulous day. It seems that sometimes things just run smoothly and there is time for everything. I love those days.

Simple and beautiful.
Perfect. Even the moments of whininess.
